Working at Disney Feature Animation

While the characters in Dinosaur are computer-animated, most of the film's backgrounds are live-action and were filmed on location.

Dinosaur was Disney's first non-Pixar computer animated feature. It was released in 2000, and was 7 years total in production. The film was originally supposed to have no dialogue at all.

There were 6 character modelers on this film. I modeled 8 characters including Baylene, one of the main characters. All the models were created from isometric drawings created by David Krentz, our resident paleoartist. Most of the modeling was done in Alias Power Animator, but eventually we did switch production to Maya.

To create the look for Baylene, I worked with Joan Plowright to create hundreds of character correct facial targets to be used in Disney's custom Maya facial system.
